(ANSA) – CATANIA, 10 FEB – An eruption of intense energy is underway on Etna. The activity of the South-East crater has changed from Strombolian to lava fountain with the emission of a cloud of lava ash about 10 kilometers high which disperses in the western sector of the volcano. The lava flow produced continues to be well fed. The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, Etna Observatory, of Catania reports that the average amplitude of the tremor of the internal magmatic ducts has reached very high values. The springs remain in the South East crater area, at an altitude of about 2,900-3,000 meters above sea level. The infrasonic activity has also reached very high values and is located in the South East crater. The Ingv has issued a red warning for flight (Vona), but the current activity of the volcano does not impact the full operation of the ‘international airport of Catania. (HANDLE).
