(ANSA) – CATANZARO, 11 FEB – Seven people were arrested and placed under house arrest as part of an investigation conducted by the Dda of Catanzaro, directed by Nicola Gratteri, on an alleged scam that would have been committed by an illegal organization damages of the Calabria Region. The scam, according to what emerged from the investigations conducted by the Carabinieri of the Judicial Police Section of the Dda and the Ecological Operating Unit, would have consisted in the undue perception of agricultural fuel at a subsidized price, burdened by reduced excise duty, which would then have been placed on the market black at a competitive price, that is half the standard amount, for purposes other than use in agriculture and in particular to be used for road engines. The arrests were made in execution of precautionary custody orders issued by the Gip of Catanzaro, Paola Ciriaco, at the request of the district prosecutor.
The 7 arrested in the operation are all entrepreneurs residing in the province of Crotone. For another entrepreneur, the residence obligation has been imposed. The investigating judge also ordered the suspension from public offices for three employees of the Calabria Region, while two others are under investigation without any measures being taken against them.
The organization that was vanquished by the carabinieri had its sphere of interest in the province of Crotone and would have achieved its illicit aims through the effective collaboration, the investigators report, of the regional employees involved in the investigation. The latter, in fact, certifying with false declarations the possession by the entrepreneurs of the required legal requirements, such as the availability of agricultural areas, in some cases owned by the State and maritime property, and the possession of means of work for the processing and cultivation, would have allowed them to obtain the undue perceptions of agricultural fuel at a subsidized price.
The suspects are accused, in various capacities, of criminal association aimed at fraud for the achievement of public funds, unauthorized access to the computer systems of the Calabria Region and aggravated fraud. (HANDLE).
