(ANSA) – MONASTERACE, 18 FEB – A fisherman and owner of a fishing boat, Kamel Kaffaf, 57, of Tunisian origins but living in Roccella Ionica for about twenty years, died at dawn today in an accident at work that occurred off the coast of Punta Stilo, in Monasterace, in Locride. The man died of serious injuries after being sucked in, and then getting stuck, by the steel cables of a winch, a tool used to hoist the heavy nets on board fishing boats. The alarm was raised by the other three fishermen who were at work aboard the “Iole” boat.
The military of the naval section of the Guardia di Finanza and the Coast Guard of Roccella Ionica intervened on the site where the tragedy occurred. The 118-year-old medical staff ascertained the man’s death due to serious injuries and injuries in several parts of the body. Locri, was handed over to the victim’s relatives. (HANDLE).
