(ANSA) – ANCONA, 22 FEB – In the Marche region, bookings for the administration of the new Novovax vaccine will start tomorrow, on a protein basis such as flu vaccines, awaiting supplies after which the inoculations will begin. This was announced by the regional councilor Filippo Saltamartini on the sidelines of the Regional Council. The Novavax, the commissioner speculates, should arrive in the Marche “at the beginning of next month: as soon as we have refueled – he adds – we will proceed with the administration for those who want to get vaccinated with Novavax.
Many people have contacted me personally: so far they have resisted the vaccination to receive the administration of this new drug “.
“As for the fourth dose for immunocompromised patients”, meanwhile, Saltamartini continues, after yesterday’s circular from Commissioner Figliuolo, “we will begin the administration from March 1st: the hospitals and centers where these people are allocated will do so”.
Regarding the duration of vaccines, the commissioner affirms, “Aifa has repeated that the validity, especially for age groups under 50, has a duration of no more than four months, so we must check what happens”. But, he recalls, there is the danger of variants that could emerge in “parts of the world where vaccines are not used” and therefore the guard “remains high”. “In the plan sent to the ministry – says the commissioner – we do not dismantle the vaccination points but we lighten them with the staff who are returned to the patients’ care”.
