(ANSA) – NAPLES, 23 FEB – They were defined as the “spies for protection money” because through their companies they collected the money to be paid as extortion to the Belforte clan of Marcianise (Caserta), and in addition they organized meetings between extorted entrepreneurs and members of the clan. This is what emerged from two entrepreneur brothers operating in the cement and catering sectors of Caserta, for which assets have been seized for over 30 million euros between luxury homes on the Amalfi Coast and cars such as Ferrari and Porsche, and the submitting their companies to judicial administration. The measures were issued by the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere – prevention measures section – and were carried out by the State Police (Anticrime Division of the Caserta Police Headquarters) in collaboration with the staff of the Dia and the Guardia di Finanza of Caserta; the Director of the Anti-Mafia Investigation Department and the Caserta Police Commissioner proposed them. It was the State Police – Mobile Squad of the Caserta Police Headquarters – who investigated the two brothers in 2014 and discovered the contiguity of the two entrepreneurs to the Belforte di Marcianise clan; one of the two was then sentenced both in first instance and on appeal with a sentence that became final in 2018 to 5 years and 5 months in prison. The investigation of an economic-financial nature on the assets of the two brothers was then grafted onto the investigation by the State Police, in which Dia and Guardia di Finanza took part.
