(ANSA) – PERUGIA, 25 FEB – “Just from the land of peace, Umbria, a message of condemnation of what is happening but also of the need to open a dialogue”: said the president of the Region, Donatella Tesei , this morning in Norcia, on the occasion of the lighting of the Benedictine torch, in the presence of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, today visiting the city.
The “Pro Pace et Europa Una” torch was lit inside the construction site of the Basilica of San Benedetto, which in these days saw the great crane rise, a prelude to the reconstruction of what became the symbol of the earthquake of 30 October 2016.
Pope Francis had blessed the Norcia torch on Wednesday 23 February, during the general audience held in the Paul VI hall in the Vatican. (HANDLE).
