(ANSA) – ROME, FEBRUARY 28 – The icy winds that have started to blow over Italy from the icy lands of Russia since the weekend are showing no sign of diminishing. At least until tomorrow, Shrove Tuesday, the country will deal with this cold air, herald of waves of disturbed weather, especially in the Central-South Adriatic.

Antonio Sanò, director and founder of the site www.iLMeteo.it warns that after today’s day, which will pass largely stable, from the very early hours of tomorrow 1 March a new supply of cold air will burst into the country. Time will be destined to worsen once again on Marche, Abruzzo, Molise, Puglia and then on Basilicata and Calabria. This new influx of cold air will be accompanied by widespread precipitation which may be snowy, at least in the early hours of the day, up to the Adriatic plains and coasts. The flakes could whiten San Benedetto del Tronto, Tortoreto lido, Francavilla a mare, Vasto and Termoli. Snow on the Gargano and flakes mixed with rain possible even in Bari in the very early hours.

After this umpteenth icy impulse the situation will radically change; the high pressure of the Azores will return to expand over our country, guaranteeing a few days of atmospheric stability, a decisive attenuation of the winds and a slight increase in both maximum and minimum temperatures.

In detail Monday 28. In the north: sunny. Center: unstable over Abruzzo and Molise. In the south: showers on Puglia, Basilicata and north-central Sicily.

Tuesday 1st March. In the north: more clouds in the Northwest, rare rains, sun elsewhere. Center: showers and snowfalls on southern Marche, Abruzzo and Molise. South: very unstable with rain and snow on the hills.

Wednesday 2. In the north: clear skies. Center: scattered clouds only over Abruzzo and Molise. In the south: sometimes very cloudy sky, rare precipitations.

From Thursday clouds are increasing in all western areas, then it will get worse in Sardinia. (HANDLE).
