Ukraine: Municipality of Calabria, ready to host war refugees

(ANSA) – MORMANNO, 28 FEB – The Municipality of Mormanno, in the province of Cosenza, says it is ready to host thirty Ukrainian refugees in its own structure, the municipal hostel. And also some families of the Municipality of Pollino have offered their willingness to welcome those fleeing the ongoing war. This was announced by Paolo Pappaterra, deputy mayor and member of the Anci Giovani Calabria coordination.

“The Municipality of Mormanno – says Pappaterra – will write to the Ukrainian ambassador in Italy in the next few hours to immediately declare its availability. A sign of closeness to the suffering of the Ukrainian people that the municipal administration will underline on the occasion of Ash Wednesday , 2 March, with a torchlight procession for peace that will take place through the streets of the village of Pollino recalling the urgency of diplomacy to heal the wounds of the conflict and silence – added Pappaterra – as soon as possible the weapons, restoring a framework of civil coexistence between peoples “.
