Ukraine: mobile column for refugees, 10 vans from Italy

(ANSA) – CAGLIARI, 01 MAR – The first mobile column will leave Sardinia on Thursday 3 March, managed by the Anas network (National Association of Social Action – medical aid and civil protection) which aims to bring about 400 packages of medicines and other medical equipment collected on the island with four 9-seater vans and two ambulances. The convoy, which will disembark in Livorno on Friday, will join other vans in Padua (about 6, but there could be more) arriving from Taranto, Rome and Lombardy.

A collection of drugs and food will remain open until Thursday morning in Nuoro, reports the SVS Viaggi per la Salute service center.

The mobile column will be led by the head of Anas Sardegna Claudio Cugusi and by Antonio Lufrano of the national consultation “We are in contact with the International Red Cross to understand if it is possible to guarantee a humanitarian corridor and if there are security conditions to reach Lviv drugs – explains Cugusi to ANSA – our goal is to give assistance to refugees by favoring family reunification, then women with minors and the elderly. We have also recovered two sterilizers thanks to the Domus association in Oristano, and the drug collections in Olbia and Nuoro went very well – he adds – just today the first load, which left Cagliari on Sunday, arrived and our driver is delivering the drugs in Rivne (about 350 km west of Kiev). The solidarity race from Sardinia does not stop and in the next few days, with the coordination of the Ukrainian consulate and the collaboration of the former president of the Region, today deputy and regional coordinator of Fi, Ugo Cappellacci, two buses will leave for the Ukrainian border to recover a hundred children.
