(ANSA) – PALERMO, 02 MAR – The financiers of the provincial command of Palermo arrested a drug courier and seized 4 kilos and 200 grams of cocaine, hidden in a controlled car in the area of the motorway junction of via Emiro Giafar, in the direction of of the Sicilian capital. The checks were carried out by a patrol from the Palermo economic-financial police unit. The man arrested is Domenico Tramontana, 30, from Reggio Calabria, aboard a Ford Focus. During the Tramontana check, he immediately appeared very agitated. Thanks to a drug dog, four loaves of cocaine were found hidden in the dashboard. The hiding place opened with a mechanical opening.
The drug placed on the market would have yielded retail revenues of over 360,000 euros. The courier accused of drug trafficking was taken to the “Pagliarelli” prison in Palermo.
The checks carried out revealed that the man received “citizenship income”, a benefit which, as a result of the precautionary measure, will be immediately suspended as required by law.
In a few days it is the second arrest of couriers from Calabria loaded with cocaine. In fact, the financiers of the provincial command of Palermo arrested two men from Villa San Giovanni and seized 5.8 kilos of cocaine, hidden in a Fiat Panda stopped at the Buonfornello motorway junction, in the direction of the Sicilian capital (ANSA).
