(ANSA) – TRIESTE, 02 MAR – “The IUPAP continues to embrace and promote scientific collaboration throughout the world as an engine for peace”. The IUPAP, International Union of Physics and Applied Physics (International Union of Physics and Applied Physics) writes in a note, to which about sixty states adhere.
“We are dismayed by the news regarding the Russian military offensive in Ukraine and the terrible consequences it has on the lives of our colleagues in Ukraine – continues the Iupap statement – We extend our deepest sympathy and solidarity to them and to all the Ukrainian people in this difficult time “. The International Union, chaired by prof. The IUPAP has two secretariats, one for administrative affairs in Trieste at the FIT and one for financial affairs in Geneva, at CERN. The centenary will be celebrated in Trieste, in July, an anniversary that is part of the International Year of basic science for sustainable development (IYBSSD) promoted by UNESCO and recently approved by the UN.
