Riserva Dannunziana reopens seven months after the fire

(ANSA) – PESCARA, 07 MAR – From today the Dannunziana Reserve of Pescara reopens after more than seven months from the furious fire of last August 1st that hit the great green lung of the city, causing extensive damage that required months of hard work ; to reopen to the public sections 3 and partially on 4. This morning many have decided to return to regain possession of the Reserve. “It was the commitment we had made – said the deputy mayor and councilor for the Parks Gianni Santilli – and that we keep anticipating the times assumed. We are able to do it before the Spring and it is a source of satisfaction to reopen the gates precisely with the arrival of the season that marks the awakening of nature “.

The works carried out in recent months have concerned the safety of the entire surface covered by the fire where it was possible to act, in particular in the play area and in the vicinity of the main avenues partially affected by the fire. All the fences, the pole-rope-pole protection system, the signs and posters, as well as the wooden fences near the ‘pond’ have been restored and the cleaning of some areas has been completed within the limits allowed by the Pan (Plan of naturalistic order) and the eradication of some exotic plants already planned before the fire. The most affected areas will soon be subject to a specific project and for the moment remain off-limits to users. The official reopening ceremony in the presence of school groups and associations will be held on Saturday 12 March at 10.30. (HANDLE).
