Ukraine: another 30 women and children rescued in Sardinia

(ANSA) – CAGLIARI, MARCH 09 – About thirty Ukrainian refugees, mothers and children, rescued in Cagliari after a long journey from the border with Poland. Mission accomplished with the opening of the bus doors in Piazza Marco Polo, in front of the Fair. The first to emerge from the applause is a fourteen-year-old girl. Then the rest of the party. These are reunions with relatives already in the Sardinian capital.

A temporary accommodation, the one in Sardinia: the volunteers of the Sos Elmas and the Accademia del Soccorso, organizers of the trip, guarantee that the next mission will be to bring everyone back to a Ukraine without war. The story of those who accompanied the refugees to the island is dramatic: many escaped from the bombs crossing the border with a march of thirty to forty hours. And in Poland they found the salvation bus, destination Cagliari.

The bus with the four Moors crossed Europe before arriving in Italy and boarding a ferry from Tuscany to Olbia: a family stayed in Livorno with some friends and relatives. The others left by sea for the island.

Once we landed in Sardinia, the journey to Cagliari began with a stop in Abbasanta to drop off a family who will be hosted in the Oristano area.

Then the arrival in the capital with the festive welcome in front of the Fair. Animators disguised as Walt Disney characters will also welcome the children. And then puppets as a gift for the little ones. (HANDLE).
