(ANSA) – TRIESTE, 09 MAR – Disruptions have occurred and are still in progress in railway traffic in Fvg due to fires that have broken out along the railway line, between Monfalcone and Bivio D’Aurisina. Around twenty convoys have been canceled throughout the region with severe delays, starting at 5pm, and also on the Trieste-Venice line.
The firefighters have requested the interruption of the railway power supply to operate safely. The firefighters of the Trieste command intervened for a first bushfire fire in Monrupino (Trieste) near a football field, then, around 4.15 pm, in Duino, near the railway line. Personnel from the regional Forestry Corps and the volunteers of the forest fire fighting of civil protection also intervened. Extinguishing operations were very difficult due to the rough terrain which forced the operators to pull about 500 meters of fire prevention pipes to reach the flames.
