(ANSA) – TURIN, MARCH 16 – The body of Dennis Craig, the 79-year-old American pilot who, last Friday, crashed with his Cirrus single-engine plane in the upper Val di Lanzo, in the Turin mountains. The body is inside the nacelle of the aircraft, partially covered by the snow that has fallen in recent days. Thanks to the Gdf helicopter, two mixed teams were transported to altitude: lowered with the winch 150 meters downstream of the wreck, and then climbed up wearing skis and skins. The teams were then brought back downstream pending the authorization of the magistrate to remove the body.
The activity was rather complex due to the fresh snow that had fallen in the last few hours and the high risk of avalanches. (HANDLE).
