(ANSA) – CROTONE, MAR 20 – A 5-year-old Ukrainian girl, who arrived a few days ago in Italy with her family fleeing the war, died after being hit by a car in “Cantorato”, on the outskirts of Crotone . The little girl was walking on the side of the road together with a cousin and an acquaintance of the latter, who was not seriously injured. The little girl died instantly.
The driver of the car that hit the child, a 45-year-old man, stopped after the accident and it was he himself who tried to help her, but for the little girl there was nothing to do.
The accident occurred on a secondary road. The carabinieri of the provincial command of Crotone intervened on the spot and started the investigations to reconstruct what happened.
The driver of the investing car was taken to the hospital to ascertain whether his physical condition was compatible with driving the car. The 45-year-old, in particular, was subjected to breathalyser tests.
In the area where the accident occurred, public lighting is sufficient and regularly functioning. (HANDLE).
