(ANSA) – ROME, MARCH 23 – The new investigation by the Rome Public Prosecutor’s Office into the murder of Simonetta Cesaroni, killed with 29 stab wounds on August 7, 1990 in via Poma, is taking its very first steps. The proceeding was initiated in the light of a complaint presented in recent weeks by the girl’s family.

In a first phase, the file was opened as model 45, ie without suspects or hypotheses of the crime but then it was hinged for voluntary homicide against unknown persons. The preliminary activity, based on what is learned, would still be in an embryonic phase but the prosecutors have already entrusted the delegation to the police to carry out a series of investigations. For those who investigate it is premature to speak of a “breakthrough” but the new investigations would concern a suspect who already at the time of the facts ended up in the sights of the investigators. His alibi, after more than thirty years, could be denied by new elements that will be collected by the magistrates to try to give an identity to those who attacked Simonetta’s body that afternoon.
