(ANSA) – BARI, MARCH 23 – The Bari Public Prosecutor is assessing the existence of serious indications of guilt against a 50-year-old of Moroccan nationality, suspected of the theft committed the night between Monday and yesterday in the Basilica of San Nicola. In addition to the change from the offerings, a gold ring, the gospel book with three silver spheres and a medallion containing a vial of the sacred manna were stolen from the hands of the saint’s statue. The man, a homeless man, has been in the offices of the Bari Police Headquarters for hours where he is interrogated. It was found by police officers hiding in a cottage in the Japigia neighborhood.
