(ANSA) – PISTOIA, MAR 26 – From the first light of dawn, two helicopters of the regional system operate on Pontito, in the so-called Switzerland Pesciatina in the Municipality of Pescia (Pistoia), due to a fire that broke out in the late afternoon yesterday that went back up tonight some valleys and currently affects the ridges of the mountain. Pending the arrival of the Canadair requested, AIB volunteer teams and forestry workers have been operating on the ground since yesterday under the coordination of an operations director.
To reinforce the extinguishing device, AIB volunteer teams arrived from outside the province and the assisted coordination procedure was activated which involves the use of specialized figures and the division into operational sectors of the fire in order to rationalize resources and concentrate them in more dangerous points by applying shared attack strategies. There is also a special vehicle with the function of command point equipped with all the necessary equipment for forecasting the spread of flames and planning the interventions to be carried out.
