(ANSA) – SALA CONSILINA (SALERNO), 27 MAR – In Sala Consilina, in the Salerno area, for the twenty-seventh consecutive year the event of the nesting of a pair of white storks on an Enel high voltage pylon is repeated. A male specimen has been preparing the nest for a few days awaiting the arrival of the female stork which will lay about 5/6 eggs. The pair of storks will presumably stay until next August and then migrate together with their children to South Africa.
To ensure peace of mind for the couple of storks are the volunteers of the Environmental Protection Association ATAPS onlus of Sala Consilina. “During the day – Mario Frari from ATAPS tells ANSA – we also monitor the area to keep away any ill-intentioned people”. For the first time the Ciconia Ciconia, this is the scientific name, arrived in the Vallo di Diano in 1996 choosing for its nesting always the same trellis located in Termini, on the border between the municipalities of Sala Consilina and Teggiano. There were about sixty ‘cicognini’ born in 26 years. (HANDLE).
