(ANSA) – ROME, APRIL 05 – Maddalena Urbani, the 21-year-old daughter of the doctor Carlo Urbani who first isolated Sars and died of an overdose, could have been saved if the rescuers had been alerted immediately and not 17 hours after the illness. This is what the technical consultants of the Rome Prosecutor’s Office heard today in the trial against the Syrian pusher Abdulaziz Rajab, accused of voluntary murder with possible fraud in competition with Kaoula El Haouzi, a friend of Urbani, argued. The young woman was found dead in the home of the drug dealer, in the Cassia area, on March 27, 2021.
The consultants of the prosecutor, a toxicologist and a coroner, claimed that the young woman died of a methadone overdose but could be saved as the girl felt ill around 8 pm on March 27 but the ambulance was called only at 1 pm. the next day, about 17 hours later. The mother and brother of Urbani, assisted by the lawyer Giorgio Beni (ANSA), formed a civil party in the proceedings.
