15 year old hit and killed, 7 years and 4 months as a motorist

(ANSA) – NAPLES, 08 APR – The Court of Naples North sentenced the 30-year-old Pietro Capoluongo to seven years and four months in prison, accused of road murder for death, which took place in the center of Casal di Principe (Caserta) in last October, by the 15-year-old Ciro Modugno.

The minor was hit while he was on the scooter by the car driven by Capoluongo, which invaded the opposite roadway; Modugno was seriously injured and died the next day at the Caserta hospital for traumas reported despite the solidarity and blood donations in favor of him. Capoluongo was arrested and ended up under house arrest a few days after the accident, also because he found positive driving drugs and alcohol.

The prosecutor had asked for 8 years in prison. The death of the 15-year-old caused so much pain in Casal di Principe, to the point that on 4 April a white bench was placed in memory of the teenager in Corso Umberto I, the main road and place where the fatal run-over took place; an initiative wanted by the mayor Renato Natale at the request of the Italian Association of Families and Victims of the Road (AIFSV).
