(ANSA) – AOSTA, APRIL 12 – Aurora Avasilichioaie, the 53-year-old hiker from Ivrea (Turin) who was rescued in the night between Sunday and Monday on Monte Zerbion in a state of severe hypothermia after an excursion with light clothing at 2,700, died. meters of altitude. She had been flown by helicopter to the Lausanne hospital, in a specialized center, and she had never regained consciousness. As usual, the Swiss authorities have an autopsy so her body cannot yet return to Italy for the funeral.

Domestic worker originally from Romania and passionate about hiking, she left Sunday afternoon from Canavese, in Piedmont, for an excursion on a path that she had already faced in the past but in summer conditions.

Dressed in light clothing and hiking shoes, she managed to reach the summit but along the descent she was stuck on the snowy path, at the height of Col Portola, at about 2,400 meters. “If she had had crampons, she would have come down easily”, explain the rescuers, who found her lying along the path with a torch beside her, still lit.
