(ANSA) – CROTONE, APRIL 13 – They would have illegally received the citizenship income without possessing the requisites required to obtain it. One hundred and two foreign citizens were denounced by the Crotone Finance Police. The financiers of the Crotone Economic and Financial Police Unit, as part of an investigative activity to combat offenses in the public spending sector launched in collaboration with the INPS, carried out a check by consulting the databases used by the Corps. and of the information made available by the special public expenditure and community fraud repression unit, ascertaining the use of false attestations in the single substitutive declarations (DSU) by more than one hundred subjects of non-EU nationality recipients of the subsidy for a total amount of five hundred thousand euros.
The current legislation on the subject provides that, in order for the foreign citizen to benefit from the contribution, he must have been resident in Italy for at least 10 years at the time of submitting the request, of which, at least the last 2 years, on an ongoing basis. On the other hand, the reported persons, despite not having completed the period of residence required by the law, have communicated to the supplying body that they are, in any case, in possession of it. Among the various positions that emerged from the investigation, a case was identified in which residence was acquired in October 2020 and the request was made in March 2021. In another it was found that a non-EU citizen, despite having been already denounced for similar events in another area of Italy, he has resubmitted, this time in the province of Crotone, the request to obtain the benefit. In addition to the complaint, the recipients of the subsidy were reported to INPS for the revocation or suspension of the contribution and for the recovery of the sums already paid, as well as for the blocking of the contributions requested but not yet paid.
