This is the conclusion of today’s session of the District Authority’s Water Crises Observatory (AdbPo – Mite) which is updated on 6 May.

The analysts’ balance still outlines an emergency profile: the flow rates of the Po river “remain below the historical averages in almost all the survey stations”; the great Alpine lakes “have not increased, if not only significantly, their capacity to invade”; the production of hydroelectric energy, “in this moment of need, is almost at a standstill or in fits and starts”, while most of the agricultural sector “was forced to postpone the sowing by two weeks, confirming to date a data of water withdrawal for the purpose irrigation at historic lows “. In the Delta of the great river “the saline wedge rises heavily for more than 10-12 kilometers from the Adriatic coast and forces the local reclamation consortia (Delta Rovigo) to almost completely close the derivation drawing, limiting themselves to a few hours of low tide. ‘drinking water emergency, offset by the dispatch of tankers, which concerned some Piedmontese municipalities today also touches Lombard territories in the Varese and Bresciano areas “.
