(ANSA) – ROME, APRIL 14 – For years he allegedly subjected his wife and daughter to repeated harassment, physical, moral and psychological violence. In January 2021, the 33-year-old woman died in a hospital in Rome. A 38-year-old of Romanian origin was arrested on charges of family maltreatment, aggravated personal injury, abduction and detention of a minor abroad. According to the investigations carried out by the IV section of the Rome Mobile, and coordinated by the Prosecutor’s Office, the violence allegedly led to the woman’s death. In fact, the police found a causal link between the mistreatment and her death. The investigation began after the hospitalization of the woman, who arrived in a Roman hospital in very serious condition in January last year. Investigators have reconstructed all the previous episodes of physical assault, the numerous visits to the emergency room, often motivated by domestic accidents. For the man in August 2020 a warning for domestic violence was issued by the commissioner. The 38-year-old allegedly at some point decided to remove the child from her mother’s care to take her to Romania and entrust her to her paternal grandparents with the aim of making the woman work more and improve the family’s income. He was taken to the Frosinone prison.
