In the forest and under water – in the Kiev region, hundreds of police officers are looking for traces of the killers of Sergei Shefir

In the Kiev region, operational-search activities continue in the case of the attempt on the life of the first assistant to the President of Ukraine Serhiy Shefir and his driver on September 22. Law enforcers are examining more than 430 hectares of forest and working out the settlements closest to the crime scene.

This is reported by the National Police of Ukraine.

Interviewing witnesses and searching for evidence

Police say they are also investigating nearby bodies of water, as well as collecting information from possible witnesses.

“Criminal investigation officers and investigators continue to collect analytical information, interrogate witnesses. Possible escape routes of the shooter are being checked, vehicles that moved within the radius of the crime scene are being tested. The cartridges withdrawn from the scene are sent for appropriate examinations. Experts are also continuing a detailed examination of the victim’s car.” , – said in the message of the police.

What happened

• The attack took place at about 10 am on Wednesday, September 22, near the village. Foresters (Kiev region). The car of the first assistant to the President of Ukraine Shefir was fired upon, the driver was wounded.
• The injured driver drove another five kilometers on a flat tire to the nearest parking lot and only stopped there to call an ambulance.
• Criminal proceedings have been opened under the article “attempted murder of two or more persons.”
• Interior Minister Denis Monastyrsky noted the heroic act of the driver of the first assistant to the president, Sergei Shefir, and reported on his state of health. According to him, the doctors completed the operation and now nothing threatens the driver’s health.
• The head of the National Police of Ukraine, Igor Klimenko, said that law enforcement officers are currently considering three main versions of the attempt on the life of the first assistant to the President of Ukraine Serhiy Shefir: state activities of the victim, pressure on the country’s top leadership, destabilization of the political situation in our country, including a version with the participation of intelligence services of foreign countries.
