(ANSA) – BOLOGNA, APRIL 21 – Trial of Lucrezia Borgia at the municipal theater of Bologna, with special actors who will wear the toga to ask for the condemnation or the acquittal of the noblewoman, who lived between 1400 and 1500 and died in Ferrara.
The TV presenter Roberta Capua will play the defendant, Lucia Musti (attorney general regent of Bologna) will compete as a defender, Senator Pier Ferdinando Casini will be Pope Alexander VI, father of Lucrezia, Francesco Caringella (section president of the Council of State) will support the prosecution, Stefano Dambruoso (PM of Bologna) will play the role of judge, and Andrea Segrè (professor of economics) will be Cesare ‘Il Valentino’, brother of Lucrezia.
‘Lucrezia Borgia – Duchess of Ferrara on trial – Court intrigues or government choices’ will be held on April 27 at 9 pm at the Comunale and the proceeds will go to charity, divided between the Ant and Antoniano’s projects for Ukrainian refugees.
The evening will be introduced by Professor Bruno Capaci (professor at the department of classical and Italian philology of the Alma Mater Studiorum in Bologna, one of the most authoritative scholars and researchers of the Duchess of Ferrara), illustrating the personality traits of the interpreter and the salient aspects of the story object of the representation. Then the ‘process’ will begin, in which the parties will create a contradictory dialectic to reach their conclusions, through the hearing of the defendants, in a confrontation with the public. At the end of the performance, the President of the Court will issue his own sentence, with a verdict of acquittal or conviction for the woman accused of having poisoned several relatives and acquaintances.
