(ANSA) – ROME, APRIL 25 – The war in Ukraine divides the squares of Rome to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the Liberation: on the one hand the traditional procession of the Anpi, concluded at Porta San Paolo, a symbol of the Resistance, in the presence of about 3,500 people; on the other hand, the rally – almost two hundred participants – organized in Largo Argentina by the ‘alternative’ partisan associations, to which Action, + Europe and the Jewish Community joined, with the slogan: “Celebrating Liberation is siding with the Kiev resistance” and many Ukrainian flags.

No public order problems.

At the starting point of the Anpi parade, in Largo Bompiani, among red flags, of peace, of Emergency, there was also a banner of the Communist Refoundation: “Enough wars. Against Putin and against NATO” and another sign that depicted death with the scythe and a cape with stars and stripes. “I do not agree with them, they are inappropriate, we will deal with them. We are grateful to the Allies and to the thousands of young Americans who died for the Liberation of Italy”, commented the president of Anpi Rome and Lazio, Fabrizio De Sanctis. In fact, shortly after, the banner and the sign were removed from the police, ready to defuse any possible provocation, after the controversy over the position of the Association, accused of being pro-Putin.

“We want – De Sanctis cut short – to maintain the sense of celebration and emotion for the fallen of the Resistance. We have always condemned the occupation of a sovereign state. The central theme, however, is peace. We are against the sending of weapons and against the rearmament of Europe “. (HANDLE).
