On the eve of the visit of Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the Russian Federation (September 29) in Syria, the Turkish military fired at two Russian helicopters, but, however, failed to shoot down.

This is reported by the Syrian Human Rights Monitoring Center SOHR.

It is noted that Turkish forces attacked the helicopters with guided surface-to-air missiles as they hovered over the village of Al-Derdara (near the Russian base) north of Tal Tamr in Hasakah province.

The Russian helicopters quickly reacted to the shelling and fired heat traps – the Turks failed to shoot down the Russians and the helicopters left the dangerous area.

According to Al Arabiya, the appearance of Russian helicopters coincided with an intense rocket attack by Turkish-backed National Army militias in the area of Al-Derdara.

The events came after Russian aircraft raided the Turkish zones of influence in northern Syria for two days in a row in additional attempts to pressure Turkey and achieve political success ahead of the September 29 meeting of Presidents Erdogan and Putin.
