Ukrainian boxer Alexander Usik won Briton Anthony Joshua and became world champion heavyweight champion WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO. And while the whole world admires the achievement of the Ukrainian, Moscow is trying to appropriate someone else’s glory, declaring that Usyk is Russian. By the way, this is not the first attempt by Russia to steal Ukrainian history. Earlier, Vladimir Putin said that the Queen of France, Anna Yaroslavna, the daughter of the Kiev prince Yaroslav the Wise, the great-grandmother of almost 30 French kings – “Russian”, and a native of the Poltava region, the writer Nikolai Gogol is “patriot of Russia”… Site “Today” found out what is behind the absurd statements and why Russia is trying to claim another victory for Ukraine.

Usyk is a champion

The second day of photographs of Alexander Usik are published on the main pages of world newspapers and magazines, name Ukrainian boxer is dazzling in the headlines of the Internet media, and the video of the battle is broadcast by all the leading TV channels. Meanwhile, in Russia, they began to publish statements that Alexander Usik is Russian, and the boxer’s victory, respectively, is the victory of Russia.

“Real russian man”

In particular, this was stated by Russian political scientist, former deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation and confidant of Russian President Vladimir Putin Sergei Markov.

“This is Alexander Usik. A real Russian man who wins. The primitive force in the Russian peasant wins”– he said on his Facebook page.

He also published a photo of Usik, noting that it reminds him not of boxing, but of the Battle of Kursk.

“That’s how ours won there. And the Cossacks who fought for Russia and the Orthodox faith”– Markov noted.

The Kremlin’s entourage also appeals to religion when trying to impose the idea of “in Russian Usike”… About it “Today” is talking Head of the Institute for Public Policy and Consulting Sergey Bykov… The expert notes that sports victories are the cheapest of the effective methods of propaganda.

“The states build political communication on sports achievements and heroism. And the presence of champions is the prestige of the country. Naturally, the Russians are trying to present Usik as a Russian athlete.”, – explains “Today” political consultant.

God and the flag

Russian political scientist Markov also stressed that Usik had visited the Church of the Assumption of Our Lady and All Saints of the Moscow Patriarchate in London before the battle.

“Usyk composes poetry about God. Only before God is the Russian man ready to accept – the winner”– he wrote.

Political scientist Bykov objected to the Russian colleague.

“There is no Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine. There is the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which Usik goes to. The fact that he attends the church of the Moscow Patriarchate does not matter. Usyk performs under the Ukrainian flag, and after his victories the whole world hears the anthem of Ukraine”, – the expert notes.

Russia and Crimea

At the same time, statements that Usyk is Russian began to spread en masse on social networks.

“Mustache – Russian”, – writes resident of the city of Oryol Sergey Kiselev and as proof of his words publishes a photo of a T-shirt with the inscription “Orthodox Russia”, similar to the one that was on Usyk during the presentation of the championship belts. True, there was no such inscription on the T-shirt of the Ukrainian boxer.

According to the political scientist Bykov, Russia has stolen the name Rus and is using it as its property, despite the fact that it has an indirect relationship to Russia.

To confirm the veracity of his point of view that Usyk is Russian, Kiselev added a photo of a Ukrainian boxing glove with the inscription “Simferopol”.

At the same time, Kiselev did not show the photo. second gloveswhere it was written “Ukraine”.

“Usyk – Russian from Crimea”, – explains Kiselev, probably forgetting that Crimea is Ukraine, and the seizure of the peninsula by Russia is condemned by the entire world community.

“Sasha Usik is a Russian champion! Full delight!” – added lawyer from Tver German Mikhailovsky.

“Usyk is a Ukrainian athlete, originally from the Ukrainian Crimea. From Ukrainian Simferopol. He has repeatedly stated this.”, – Bykov retorts.

At home among strangers

Residents also joined in the statements of the Russians “L / DNR”.

“The winner was the Russian Orthodox guy Usik, not the Anglo-Saxon. Orthodox. Russian. Our”, – wrote resident of Luhansk Marina Markova.

Agrees with her employee so-called Public Chamber “LNR” Alexander Protsenko.

“Such as Usyk, even as an enemy, and that would be something to respect. Therefore, it is pleasant when such people are definitely not your enemies and definitely not the same as your enemies. And Usyk is more than just not an enemy to us. He is, in fact, our own among their strangers”– he wrote.

According to political scientists, many residents of ORDLO live in a parallel reality, obviously trying to be proud of a hero who has nothing to do with artificially created pseudo-republics. After all, he was born in the Ukrainian Crimea and lives in Kiev, performs under the flag of Ukraine.

“People who write this are rare. Surprisingly, many of them are the Kremlin’s entourage. It looks, to put it mildly, miserable. After all, even the Russians themselves are at a loss.”, – says Bykov.

Putin’s ideology and schism

Head of the Ukrainian Institute of Politics Ruslan Bortnik notes: massive messages about “in Russian Usike” are a continuation of Putin’s ideology that Russians live in Ukraine and “Ukraine and Russia are one people”… He also considers the activity on social networks to be an information attack aimed at provoking Ukrainian radicals and deepening the split in Ukrainian society.

“The course to intensify the crisis of the Ukrainian society. These stuffing, as conceived by the Kremlin, should cause the effect of Pavlov’s dog in the Ukrainian right-wing, forcing them to undermine the situation again on the basis of nationalism.”, – is talking “Today” Bortnik.

Calculating game

The political scientist adds that if the attacks of the radicals on Usik intensify and force the athlete to leave Ukraine, then Russia will immediately offer him citizenship and receive a world boxing star she doesn’t have today.

“This is a technological game of calculation”, – explains Bortnik.

Sergei Bykov is sure that the expectation that Usik will move to live in Russia and perform under the Russian flag is hardly realizable.

“Whoever says anything, Usyk is a real patriot who glorifies Ukraine with his victories. I am sure that Russia can only dream of such an athlete. Style statements “Mustache – Russian” – the case when wishful thinking”, – summed up the political scientist.

Previous site “Today” reported that Alexander Usik would like to have a rematch with Anthony Joshua of the NSC “Olympic” in Kiev.

However, according to Alexander, it is not important for him. “Though in space”, – says the Ukrainian.
