Ukraine: Sant’Egidio, Peace Mob at the Trevi Fountain

Threat to Europe from Russian TV:

(ANSA) – ROME, APRIL 30 – A peaceful ‘occupation’ of the Trevi Fountain by the Youth for Peace of Sant’Egidio is underway, to show their solidarity with the victims of the war in Ukraine and to ask loudly for peace. Among them, some young Ukrainians and from countries affected by years of wars (Syria, Iraq, Colombia) who, together with their Italian peers – high school and university students -, have created a “peace mob” under the curious eyes of tourists . After having raised colored placards, the children chanted some slogans: “Peace, peace, peace”; “May 1st, Labor and Peace Day”, “Let us put down our weapons and disarm our hearts”.

The initiative follows the many other #nowar events organized by the GXPs in the symbolic places of Rome such as the Spanish Steps, the Campidoglio and Piazza Vittorio. (HANDLE).
