(ANSA) – ASCOLI PICENO, 02 MAY – An entrepreneur from Ascoli Piceno by means of an illicit system, through “Iptv” (transmission of television signals on computer networks), allowed to see the programs of Sky, Mediaset Premium, Netflix and Dazn without taking out official subscriptions. He was discovered and denounced as part of a digital audiovisual anti-piracy operation, by the Guardia di Finanza of Ascoli Piceno who also carried out personal and local searches, based on a provision of the judicial authority, seizing IT material.

Parallel to the exercise of a legal activity of retail trade of computers, software and office equipment, the interested party was active on a website, as a “reseller” of pirated services to illegally sell decoding elements that allowed the access to an encrypted service; a service that, otherwise, could only have been obtained by purchasing a regular subscription. The end users, the investigators reconstructed, paid the agreed fee with top-ups on Postepay cards attributable to the suspect, paying a much lower sum than the real fee that should have been paid to the television service provider.

With the procedure used, the investigators explain, some subjects are able to decrypt the pay TV signal, then the decoding codes are transferred to “resellers”, who resell them to compliant customers to illegally view encrypted programs of some of the most famous digital platforms. (HANDLE).
