Their mother, Sophia, remained a widow and was a righteous Christian. She raised her daughters in modesty and Christian piety

Once the emperor Hadrian found out about this and ordered to bring all four to Rome. A mother with three children appeared before him. On that moment Vera was 12 years old, Nadezhda was 10, and Lyubov was only 9 years old.
