– NAPLES, 05 MAY – Protest in the afternoon in Naples in front of the closed gates of the cemetery of Poggioreale where on January 5 a collapse, perhaps due to the underground works of line 1 of the Metro, damaged over 200 niches: inside some of these, from a distance, you can also see several bodies that continue to be exposed to the elements.
As happens every 5th of the month, the relatives made an appointment to ask the institutions involved to take action to reopen access as soon as possible and, by restoring the usability of the places, allow the visit of the deceased.
Not being able to reach the niches of the historic cemetery that connects Poggioreale to the Capodichino hill, for weeks the relatives have left flowers and candles in front of the closed gate where there are also photos of their loved ones. The words written on a sheet affixed to the gratings are entrusted with all the anger towards those who do not understand their pain: “For you it is only about the dead ….. for us they are the past, our being, our affections more expensive. We demand respect! “.
