(ANSA) – PESCARA, MAY 05 – A fruit cake, ‘La Valentina’, to remember the mother victim of the Rigopiano tragedy on the day all mothers are celebrated, Sunday 8 May: Gaia Matrone and father Giampaolo are not new to thoughts and initiatives on the occasion of Mother’s Day for their Valentina Cicioni, one of the 29 victims of the avalanche that hit the hotel in Farindola (Pescara) on 18 January 2017. Matron was extracted alive by rescuers after 62 hours and suffered severe disabling trauma to his limbs.
“This year I thought of dedicating a cake to my mother, which will be called ‘La Valentina’, a special cake like her” explains Gaia, who is now ten years old, in a video made and released on the occasion. An original idea, but almost natural for her, attending the family pastry shop every day in Monterotondo (Rome). And so the little girl immediately put her father and uncle Marco to work who, since the day of the accident, mainly deals with the confectionery business since her brother and partner Giampaolo, having suffered heavy trauma to an arm, did not is more able to carry out this type of high manual work as before.
“When Gaia – explains Matrone, illustrating the recipe in the video – expressed this desire to remember her mother, I was very happy. Gaia and the “pastry chefs” have created a biscuit and butter crumble, as a “heart” a gelee insert with red fruits, the main base is a Madagascar vanilla mousse, decorated with tufts of cream, Valentina’s favorite flavor, garnished with fuchsia, its favorite color, and then blackberries, raspberries and currants.
