(ANSA) – NAPLES, 07 MAY – Husband and wife decide to separate and poor Fido pays the price: the marriage lawyer from Caserta Carmen Posillipo denounces him who is registering a growing number of cases in which, when the time to say goodbye, neither spouse wants to take care of the family pet. In the last of the cases that she has happened to her, she lets the matrimonialist know, husband and wife about to become ex were practically in agreement on everything. A bone of contention and the cause of the impasse that still persists today was the custody of the little dog. And it is for this reason that the lawyer launches an appeal to politics: “The Italian legal system should equip itself with a law that regulates the custody of the dog in the event of divorce”.
“A law – explains the lawyer Posillipo – that provides for the custody of the pet to the spouse who can guarantee him greater well-being, without considering the property regime and the dog’s personal documents”. In this way, says the lawyer, “in order to make a decision, obviously, the judge will have to hear spouses, cohabitants, children and, if necessary, also experts in animal behavior before deciding who to assign the pet to”.
“I have no data that can make me support the hypothesis that – concludes Posillipo – in the end these poor animals end up being abandoned, but, at the moment, I don’t feel like excluding the risk that this could happen”. (HANDLE).
