(ANSA) – PISTOIA, MAY 07 – Sixteen Ukrainian patients, including two minors, all with cancer, will arrive in Italy in the afternoon thanks to a flight managed by the remote health aid operations center (Cross) based in Pistoia.
The flight of the financial police, which left Pratica di Mare this morning at 9.30, will land in Reciov in southern Poland, where there is a Cross base with a team of health workers and an interpreter. From there it will leave with the 16 Ukrainian patients on board to land, in two stops, in Bologna and Fiumicino and distribute the patients in the regions that will host them: Lombardy, Veneto, Emilia Romagna, Liguria, Tuscany, Umbria, Marche, Lazio and Campania. Tuscany, in particular, will welcome two adults, one of 18 and another of 35 who will be taken to the hospitals of Siena and Pisa. To date, Cross has organized 25 operations with Ukraine – 23 flights and two ambulance transfers – bringing 187 injured and cancer patients to Italy. Of the 25 operations, 12 were carried out with financial police aircraft, eight with flights made available by private individuals, three with coastguard flights and two, as mentioned, with ambulances.
