(ANSA) – MILAN, 09 MAY – The anti-terrorism pool of the Milan Public Prosecutor, led by Alberto Nobili, has asked for an immediate trial for Bleona Tafallari, 19 years old born in Kosovo, but domiciled in Milan, renamed the “lioness of ISIS “and arrested on 17 November in the Lombard capital for international terrorism following an investigation coordinated by prosecutor Leonardo Lesti and conducted by Digos.
According to the order of the investigating judge Carlo Ottone De Marchi, also confirmed by the Review which rejected a request for release, the girl would have embraced jihadist radicalism and enlisted and proselytized, even among minors, without hiding ambition to go and fight in the war zones against the “western enemy”. She would have been a devoted supporter of ISIS for at least three years and she would have been part, together with her husband (who was in Germany), of a rib of her, namely the group called the ‘Lions of the Balkans’.
In addition, in January last year she married a 21-year-old “mujahideen” from Kosovo and related to the Vienna bomber Kujtim Fejzula. Inside the 19-year-old’s phone, more than 7,000 audio, video and images were found, some from the Islamic State communication agency ‘Al Hayat Media Center’, and more than 2,000 chats that left no doubt, according to the indictment, about the its membership of ISIS.
In the interrogation in front of the investigating judge and then with the prosecutors, the young woman always defended herself by explaining that she had never made propaganda, that she had never considered “becoming a martyr, or going to fight”. After the expected ok of the investigating judge in the immediate rite (the preliminary hearing is skipped), the defense can request, if it wishes, the shortened rite, behind closed doors and with a third party discount on the sentence.
