The memory of the Babi Yar tragedy should unite Ukrainians in their aspiration to never allow such tragedies to occur. And never allow the issue of the memorial at Babi Yar to be turned into a weapon of Russia’s information war against Ukraine.

The leader of the Popular Front party Arseniy Yatsenyuk wrote about this on Facebook.

“Today is the day when we bow our heads in the mournful memory of one of the greatest tragedies that the occupation wars brought to the Ukrainian land,” – he stressed.

Yatsenyuk added that, according to historians, in 1941-1943 in Babi Yar, the Nazis shot 100,000 people, of which about 70,000 were Jews.

“Babi Yar became a mass grave for Ukrainians, Russians, Roma and other nationalities. In just two days on September 29-30, almost 34,000 Jews were killed. A terrible conveyor of death …”, – wrote Yatsenyuk.

The ex-prime minister stressed that it is important to remember these figures. Behind each of them are “human destinies, unborn lives, pain of families, our sorrow and a bitter historical lesson for the whole world.”
