Mother and daughter killed, Maja: ‘Obsessed with the burden of debt’

(ANSA) – MONZA, 13 MAY – Alessandro Maja admitted his responsibilities and explained the brutal murder of his wife and daughter with “obsession with debts”, answering the questions of the investigating judge of Busto Arsizio (Varese) Piera Bossi, during his guarantee interrogation which took place today, at the psychiatry ward where the 57-year-old from Samarate (Varese) is hospitalized immediately after being arrested for killing his wife Stefania Pivetta, 56, his daughter Giulia aged 16 and having nearly killed his eldest son Nicolò, 23 years old.

His lawyer, Enrico Milani, confirmed this to ANSA.

“He answered the questions painfully,” the lawyer said.

“That evening he explained that he had dinner with the family as always, that he had washed the dishes.” Then the boys went “to their rooms”, continued Milani, “his wife went to sleep on the sofa and he continued walking around the house without stopping to think about the weight of the debts that he lived as unbearable”. Then, the attacks that “he can’t explain, he can’t say why he acted like this”. Maja confirmed that he “hit his wife first, then his daughter and finally his son with a hammer”, added the lawyer, “and used the drill on himself to kill himself”. Finally, Maja said she had not sedated anyone before the massacre. (HANDLE).
