(ANSA) – BERGAMO, MAY 14 – The longest Tibetan bridge in the world was inaugurated today in Dossena, in the Bergamasco area: with its 505 meters and a maximum height of 120 meters it is the existing structure of the longest tread type discontinuous, therefore with passages interspersed by the void, and without lateral tie rods therefore with a single span. It is called ‘Ponte del sole’.
Also inaugurated a one kilometer ring route with one hundred meters underground for a playful and cultural moment.
The two activities as well as the guided visits to the Dossena mines will be open to the public in the coming weeks. The bridge connects the center of Dossena with the Corna Bianca roccolo, flying over the gypsum quarry and guaranteeing a breathtaking view. The structure was designed by the engineer Francesco Belmondo, of the BBE, who followed the design work, and was built with seven steel ropes.
Present at the inauguration were the mayor of Dossena Fabio Bonzi, the regional councilor for tourism Lara Magoni, the president of the Province of Bergamo Pasquale Gandolfi, those of the Valle Brembana mountain community Johnatan Lobati and the Bim Carlo Personeni consortium, the deputy Graziella Leyla Ciagà, Senator Antonio Misani, the regional councilors Roberto Anelli, Paolo Franco and Dario Violi, as well as the president of the mountain community Valle Seriana Gianpiero Calegari.
