Night of museums, extraordinary opening also in the Senate (ANSA)

(ANSA) – VENICE, MAY 15 – There were 5,500 this morning at the start of the forty-second edition of the “Up and down the bridges of Venice”, the traditional non-competitive solidarity walk to discover the city, organized by the social promotion association Tgs Eurogroup with the patronage of the Municipality of Venice, returned to dispute after the two-year stop due to the pandemic.

The 2022 edition, for which the slogan “Open new roads” was chosen, unfolded as usual on two routes: the complete one, 11 kilometers long, with departure and arrival in Piazza San Marco, crossed 39 city bridges . The short route, 5 kilometers long and with 18 bridges, reserved above all for kindergartens and primary schools, instead started from the Port of Venice, ending equally in St. Mark’s Square.

A day of celebration, opened by the Holy Mass celebrated in the Basilica of San Marco by Fr Igino Biffi, head of the Salesian Province “San Marco” North-East Italy, promoting body of TGS Eurogroup, and then concluded with the awards ceremony, also in the Piazza San Marco, in the presence, for the municipal administration, of the councilor for the promotion of the territory.

“We are very satisfied – commented the general manager of Tgs Eurogroup Igino Zanandrea – We had the maximum number of participants expected, and the system of staggered departures made it possible to manage attendance in the best way”. At the end of the event, prizes were awarded to each participant, who received a collectible medal, and to groups with over 50 members, who were given a handcrafted ceramic plaque. Medals and plaques had depicted the church of San Francesco della Vigna, in the Castello district. (HANDLE).
