(ANSA) – NAPLES, MAY 16 – Mafia-type association aimed at receiving stolen goods, possession and illegal carrying of weapons and explosives, attempted murder and association aimed at drug trafficking: these are the crimes that, for various reasons, the DDA of Naples challenges 17 suspects to whom, during the night, the Carabinieri of the Compagnia di Castello di Cisterna notified (between Naples, Agrigento, Biella, Terni and Santa Maria Capua Vetere in the province of Caserta), as many arrests issued by the investigating judge of Naples.

The investigations by the military of Castello di Cisterna and from the stations of Brusciano and Marigliano lasted between December 2017 and December 2020 and concerned the rival clans Rega and Esposito-Palermo, both from Brusciano, and their illicit activities, among which stand out drug dealing and extortion.

Overall, precautionary measures were notified to four suspects who were at liberty, to 11 already detained in prison and to two already under house arrest for other reasons.

Among the recipients of the measures there are also Francesco Palermo and Tommaso Rega, alias “O ‘chirichiello”, heads of the homonymous clans dedicated to extortion, bomb attacks, crimes against the person, in the field of weapons, and the trafficking of large quantities of drugs of various kinds, marketed in their “sales squares”.

Among the episodes on which the investigators’ attention was focused there are also two attempted murders: the first occurred on December 3, 2017, the second 17 days later, on December 20, in which the father of a soldier from the Arma in force to the Operations Section of the Compagnia di Castello di Cisterna, which accidentally found itself on the scene of the ambush.
