(ANSA) – BOLOGNA, 18 MAY – “For me this lift represents the legs”: these are the first words spoken by Emo Gruppioni after his first ‘journey’ with the lift that had long been denied him and which today was finally inaugurated. The disabled elderly Bolognese, forced into a wheelchair after a stroke, was unable to leave his apartment on his own in Bologna, on the third floor of an apartment building.
“I have been waiting for this for 15 years – said Emo – and one of the first things I would like to do is go to mass”.
For the occasion, a small party was organized in the condominium in Borgo Panigale, with the toast that Emo himself promised when the construction of the lift seemed very difficult. Last year the story had become a national case, which had seen the interest of rapper J-Ax to stir the waters after that, amidst the opposition of some condominiums and bureaucratic problems related to the 110% contributions, the project seemed to be wrecked.
Emo’s daughter, Elisa Gruppioni, thanked Confabitare, who followed the elderly man in this affair, J-Ax, the institutions starting with the two mayors of Bologna who took turns in the last year and called him personally to inform him on the feasibility, and the architects who followed the work.
“I am particularly proud of this result because it was a difficult case in many respects, therefore the possibility of failure existed – said Alberto Zanni, national president of Confabitare – but we have faced every single step, demanding clarity, up to today’s result. “. For Confabitare, the case of Emo has also created a legal precedent, as until now it was not known that even elevators in derogation, or with smaller dimensions than the law 13 of 1989, could fall within the demolition of architectural barriers.
