(ANSA) – PADUA, MAY 20 – There are 4 dead and 2 injured caused by an accident that took place in the afternoon in Veneto, a frontal crash between a Fiat Multipla, and a truck, along the Postumia road, in San Pietro in Gu (Padua ). Two of the 6 passengers of the Multipla died instantly, in the devastating impact with the heavy vehicle. Two more later died, after the helicopter rescue had transferred them, in desperate conditions, to the hospitals of Vicenza and Padua. The two injured, not in danger of life, are in the hospital of Cittadella (Padua). No serious consequences for the driver of the Tir, a Vicenza, who works for a company in the area and was finishing his shift. Police reported that according to initial investigations the Fiat Multipla was overtaking when it collided with the articulated vehicle. A very violent crash, which left no escape for 4 of the people in the family car.
La Polstrada is working on reconstructing the exact dynamics of the accident. The identity of the victims has not yet been ascertained. We only know that they are all foreign citizens.
State road 53 Postumia remained closed to traffic for a long time, to allow complex rescue operations, and subsequently to make the road safe. Numerous fire brigade vehicles, 4 ambulances and two Suem 118 helicopters intervened on the spot. (ANSA).
