(ANSA) – PERUGIA, MAY 24 – The mother of the one-year-old child was investigated for ill-treatment, injuries and neglect of a minor in recent days, transported to the hospital in Perugia in cardio-circulatory arrest and then hospitalized in serious condition at Meyer from Florence. The news is reported by local newspapers.
The Public Prosecutor of Perugia has instructed a coroner to carry out “urgent and unrepeatable” investigations to clarify the causes of the lesions found on the child’s body. It is not clear whether the registration in the register of suspects is linked to elements that emerged from the ongoing investigation or whether it was arranged to allow the young woman, of foreign origin, to appoint her own consultant and participate in the exams.
Investigators also acquired the mother’s cell phone and the baby’s clothes.
The clinical examinations carried out by the doctors of the Perugia hospital after having resuscitated the child had brought to light a “previous” fracture of the right humerus, following which he had been hospitalized in the same hospital in Perugia on 24 March last, a fracture to the head and a swelling always in the head.
The young woman allegedly claimed that her son was eating a biscuit when he was in danger of suffocating. She would then try to remove the food by throwing cold water on him in an attempt to get him back. (HANDLE).
