    – since 2009, the professional holiday has been celebrated by workers in the educational sphere.
  • International Day of the Urologist
    – annually celebrated by physicians working in this area.
  • World Ostomy Day
    held under the auspices of the UN every year on the first Saturday of October, since 1993, in order to draw public attention to the problems and rehabilitation of such patients.
  • International Day of Non-Violence
    – the holiday was established at the initiative of the UN in 2007 and is celebrated on October 2 in honor of the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, the Indian founder of the philosophy of non-violence.
  • World farm animals day
    organized in 1983 with the aim of protecting the rights of animals and ridding them of unnecessary suffering, it is noteworthy that it is also timed to coincide with the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, who advocated non-violence and vegetarianism.

What a church holiday today

On October 2, the Orthodox Church celebrates the Saturday after the Exaltation. The memory of the martyrs Trofim, Savvaty and Dorimedont, the martyr Zosima, motherwort, the blessed Grand Duke Igor of Chernigov and Kiev, is honored.

Folk holiday

Trofim and Zosima the beekeeper were revered among the people on October 2. The saints were considered the patrons of beekeepers and bees. During this period, people prepared the hives for wintering. Honey was a traditional treat. And the Trofimov evenings themselves were considered a good period for choosing brides, grooms and matchmaking.
