Petrobras case: judges, Rocca brothers not to be tried

De Mita, Zecchino:

(ANSA) – MILAN, MAY 26 – The criminal action should not even have started due to lack of jurisdiction. This is the sentence with which the Court of Milan acquitted the directors and reference shareholders of San Faustin, Techint holding, the brothers Gianfelice and Paolo Rocca and Roberto Bonatti who were accused of international corruption in a case centered on an alleged a bribe of almost € 6.6 million paid, according to the indictment, between 2009 and 2013 to an executive of the Brazilian public company Petrobras in exchange for contracts for the supply of pipes worth € 1.4 billion. Equally acquitted for San Faustin.

The seventh criminal judges (Malatesta, Fiorentini, Clemente) pronounced a sentence of “not having to proceed” for all the defendants (defended by lawyers Francesco Mucciarelli, Marco Calleri, Andrea Rossetti and Adriano Raffaelli) because “the criminal prosecution” could not not even be started “for lack of jurisdiction” and, in essence, certainly against them it could not even be instituted a proceeding in Italy.
