(ANSA) – MANFREDONIA, MAY 28 – Protest this morning by the fishermen of the maritime sector of Manfredonia (Foggia) because of the expensive diesel. For a week about 200 fishing boats have not gone out to sea to protest against the increase in the cost of fuel. Fishermen and shipowners have positioned their boats side by side so as to create – they tell ANSA – “a sort of chain”. While the fishermen found themselves on the quay of the port. “With these increases it has become impossible to go out to sea – says a fisherman -. In our pockets there is nothing left to live on”. Meanwhile the fishermen are also waiting for answers from the Puglia Region: “Tuesday we have a meeting with the councilor for agriculture Donato Pentassuglia. If we do not get reassurance we will continue our protest indefinitely”, they conclude (ANSA).
